Every major AI was trained
without Africa.
The internet is 98% non-African. That means 98% of African prices, languages, markets, and business reality was absent from every AI ever trained. Claude, GPT, Gemini — none of them know what avocados cost in Kiambu or how Kongowea market works.
When an African entrepreneur asks these systems a real African question, they hallucinate. They guess. They don't know what avocados cost in Kiambu. They don't know Sheng. They don't know how Kongowea market works on a Friday.
AfriFoundry is building the 98% that was left out. Ground-truth data collected at market level. African context baked in. Infrastructure that was never given to us — so we built it ourselves.
Infrastructure. Not just a product.
AfriFoundry is the parent company. It owns the data layer, the collection network, and the products that run on top of it. As the company grows, more products will be built on this infrastructure.
The Infrastructure
AfriFoundry owns the data layer — the collection pipeline, the dataset, the verification system, and the APIs that will power the next generation of African AI products.
AfriFoundry AI
The thinking partner who knows Africa. Powered by verified African market data. Speaks English, Swahili, Sheng, and growing. Live at ai.afrifoundry.com.
AfriScout
The field collection arm. Human scouts walk the markets — collecting data that no scraper can replicate. GPS-tagged, offline-first, verified. Ground truth by definition.
The Dataset
500,000+ verified datapoints on the road to 1,000,000. The asset that compounds — the more we collect, the smarter every product built on AfriFoundry becomes.
The Bloomberg Terminal
of Africa
Bloomberg Terminal became the world's most trusted financial intelligence platform by owning the data layer first, then building products on top. AfriFoundry is doing the same for Africa — starting with the market intelligence nobody else collected.

The African data standard for global AI
Give every African entrepreneur the intelligence they deserve.
To build the data and intelligence infrastructure Africa was never given — so that every founder, farmer, and business owner on this continent can make decisions based on their real world, not someone else's assumptions.
The Bloomberg Terminal of Africa.
A world where African intelligence powers African decisions — and where the data infrastructure built here becomes the continental standard for every AI that wants to truly understand and serve Africa.
Context Over Convention
Every decision is grounded in African reality. We never assume what works elsewhere works here.
Ground Truth Only
We collect data where it lives — in the markets, on the ground, verified by people who were actually there.
Infrastructure Thinking
We build for the long term. The moat we are building compounds with every datapoint collected.
Radical Honesty
AfriFoundry AI tells you the truth about your idea — not what you want to hear. We hold ourselves to the same standard.
Speed With Rigour
We move fast but never at the cost of data quality. A wrong datapoint is worse than no datapoint.
Built by Africans
We are not building about Africa from the outside. We are building from inside it — with full context, full accountability.
"I had built an AI-powered infection control doorway — technically sound, investor-ready. Standing in a hospital triage line in Kenya, I saw clearly it would fail in Africa within months. Not because the technology was wrong. Because the data it was built on was wrong."
— MARK GAKUYA · Founded July 8, 2025 · Mombasa, Kenya
Founder
Mark built AfriFoundry because the infrastructure didn't exist. A biomedical engineer who started by building AI-powered medical devices — and realised, standing in a Kenyan hospital, that every tool he was using was built on data that had nothing to do with his reality.
He built AfriFoundry from zero in 9 months with no external funding — collecting the first ground-truth African market data himself, walking Gikomba, Kongowea, and Likoni markets stall by stall.
